The Karner Blue Garden Club formed in 1995 with a strong desire to enhance the beauty of the Black River Falls area. Currently the club boasts 42 members, many of which are Master Gardeners. The club generously contributes hundred of hours each year to maintain 50 flower beds throughout the community along with more than 70 hanging baskets placed along Main and adjacent streets. The KBGC is supported through membership, generous benefactors, Black River Falls City Recreation Department, volunteer support from the community and various local organizations.

Jackson County Interfaith Volunteer Caregivers is a private, non-profit organization that provides non-professional services, free of charge, to older adults and disabled people in Jackson County, regardless of income, religious belief, or ethnic background. Services are provided by trained volunteers from area congregations and communities to help people improve their quality of life and remain independent as long as possible. Possible services may include caring companionship, telephone reassurance, shopping and errands, transportation and escort to appointments, yard work and minor home repairs, light meal preparation and respite care. A visually impaired program that provides audio tapes of local newspapers, a new mother's helper support service, a school based mentoring program, a library book delivery service for homebound individuals, and transitional help from hospital or extended care facility to home, following an illness or surgery, are also available.

The Friends of the Black River is a citizen-led organization that works to foster a greater community appreciation and understanding of the Black River. The group promotes wise decision-making of issues affecting the health of the river and its watershed. Members of the Friends of the Black River are involved in various activities and programs including stream monitoring, enjoyment of the river, aquatic invasive species monitoring, river and land-based cleanups and community educational outreach.

Partners of Black River Memorial Hospital

Partners of Black River Memorial Hospital is an auxiliary group that has had a long tradition of caring and giving. It was formed in 1967 and currently has 150 men, women and students who freely give of their time, skills and energies to support the hospital and its mission. There are many volunteer positions within and outside of the hospital. Partners provides lobby/escort services throughout the hospital. They also hold several different fundraising events to provide monies for our hospital's needs and projects. The Gift Shop is part of the Partners continuous fundraising and is staffed solely by volunteers. They provide educational opportunities to schools concerning teens and tobacco, poison prevention, and self-esteem. Partners also sponsor area Red Cross Blood Drives, including 2-3 times per year at BRMH. The Partners operate the Telecare program, which consists of volunteers doing a safety call every morning to listed subscribers. On occasion, Partners have provided family respite for hospital patients/families. Partners also sponsor a Volunteen group. This is for teens age 14-18 to take part in many of the same activities as the adult volunteers, as well as allowing opportunities for job shadowing. Volunteer services staff will find the best "job" that fits volunteer's interests, skills and schedules. Volunteers are required to complete and interview, application, health history, TB skin test, general orientation and specific orientation and training for their particular position.
