Field of Honor Veterans Memorial

Using a pentagon theme, the Field of Honor is built around a 32 foot flag pole which is illuminated from dusk to dawn. The Field of Honor is further enhanced through the use of a series of descriptive monolith (monuments) which honor veterans of World War I, World War II, the Korean Conflict, and the Vietnam War. Flowers, shrubs and vast lawn area surround the Field of Honor in greenery and represent the peace and freedom our veterans have fought to preserve. The two 25 foot flag poles (Prisoner of War/Missing in Action and the State of Wisconsin) at the entrance to the memorial also compliment the setting. Located next to Black River Area Chamber of Commerce, 120 N. Water Street, Black River Falls.

Sand Creek Brewing Company

Located at 320 Pierce Street, Black River Falls, this brewing company follows the tradition of Wisconsin’s first large scale brewery owned by Ulrich Oderbolz in 1856. Sand Creek Brewing Company, founded in 1999 by Jim Wiesender and Cory Schroeder was originally built on the Schroeder farm near Downing, Wisconsin. After 4 years of operation on the farm a decision was made to expand the fledgling operation. In March of 2004, the Sand Creek Brewing Company teamed up with Todd Krueger the Brewmaster of the Pioneer Brewing Company, and purchased the historic building and Black River Falls business. This historic building was once used to raise turkeys, build land mines during the Korean War, and to bottle Coca-Cola. Currently the Sand Creek Brewing Company produces over 29 different products on a proprietary and contract level. They specialize in premium craft brewed lagers and ales.
