Shown holding her design and accepting her prize of $20 in Chamber Bucks are, (left to right), her teacher Miss Bishop, art teacher Jen Sweeney and race chairman, Joe Williams. Paris will also receive a T-shirt with her winning design imprinted on the front and she will be involved in the opening ceremonies of the race on July 21.
Plans are well underway for the 8th Annual Karner Blue 5K-10K-Half Marathon races that are scheduled for Saturday, July 21, 2012. One component of the event is a T-shirt design contest where eight to ten-year-old students from Jackson County elementary schools and the Boys and Girls Club of Jackson County are encouraged to compete. The contest has ended and the winner has been selected. Ten-year-old Paris Prochaska, a fourth grade student at Gebhardt Elementary submitted this year’s winning design. Paris will receive a free T-shirt along with $20 in Chamber Bucks for her winning artwork. T-shirts with Paris’ design on the front will be given to every race registrant. Paris is the daughter Troy and Kelly Prochaska of Black River Falls.
Several sponsorship opportunities exist in conjunction with the Karner Blue Race. Chamber businesses have the opportunity to sponsor the T-shirt for $50 and their company logo will be imprinted on the back of each t-shirt. Another sponsorship option is for businesses to have their name imprinted on mile-markers along the race route at a cost of $10. These will be assigned on a first come, first served basis. Another opportunity is taking part in a water and refreshment station along the race route. Water, Gatorade and cups will be provided, so volunteers will only be asked to supply a table and chairs. Road Marshalls are needed along the race route to help direct the runners. These volunteers will be needed from 7 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. A fifth opportunity is sponsoring a prize for the Kid’s Race. This race is geared toward children eight and under and the suggested prize value is $10. To simplify your donation, we will accept monetary donations and purchase the prizes for you if you prefer. Lastly, all race registrants receive goodie bags that include promotional items from our area. If you have pens, note pads, key chains, store coupons and other logo items that promote your place of business, we would be happy to include them in the bags. We are anticipating approximately 300 entrants.
Our event participation has increased every year and we anticipate another great year. Please consider these inexpensive opportunities to advertise your business and help support the 8th Annual 2012 Karner Blue 5K-10K-Half Marathon. All donors and sponsors will be acknowledged throughout the event publicity.
