Longing to get back in touch with nature? Love sleeping under the stars? You’re in luck – Black River Country has loads of great camping options and plenty of beautiful scenery to go with them.
Looking for a room with a view? Castle Mound Campground in Black River Falls is for you! There are miles of nature trails to explore and a vista from the top of Castle Mound you won’t want to miss.
Like to get up and go? Visit Doc’s Bunkhouse in Merrillan where you can ride your ATV right from your tent onto the trails. And if you’re not afraid of a little dirt, come play in the ATV mud pit! They’ve also got volleyball, mini-golf, swimming and horse shoes.
If you’re travelling with little ones, there are good options for family fun too. Set up camp at Lost Falls in Black River Falls and you can swim, fish, hike and hunt for the lost falls. Rent a tube, kayak, stand-up paddleboard or canoe and get on the water. There’s even Saturday night storytelling.
Families will also love a visit to the KOA Campground in Hixton/Alma Center. There’s lots of wildlife to spot, a well-stocked kids’ fishing pond, playground, heated swimming pool and a giant jumping pillow. On the weekends hitch a free wagon ride and enjoy a pancake breakfast and an ice cream social.
