2008 Karner Blue 5K-10K-Half Marathon

The Karner Blue Race Committee is excited to announce the addition of a Half-Marathon race added to the event line-up in 2008.  The public is invited to participate in the 2008 Karner Blue 5K-10K-Half Marathon event, scheduled for Saturday, July 12, 2008, to “kick off” the Karner Blue Butterfly Festival. The races will begin promptly at 8:00 AM at the Black River Area Chamber of Commerce/Field of Honor Park and will end there as well.  The age and gender categories will be 12 and under, 13-19, 20-35, 36-50, and over 50, male and female.   There will be water and food stations throughout the route with refreshments and door prizes available at the finish line.  All participants will receive a finisher’s medal and automatically be entered into the prize drawings.

The Corporate Challenge will be held again this year where teams of five people from an organization can enter together running the 10K race to win the Corporate Challenge Traveling Trophy.  Employers should consider sponsoring a team from their place of business to enter this event.  The winning team can display the trophy for one year and will have bragging rights as the top 10K team. River Country Fitness, LLC, was the Corporate Challenge winner of the 10K race in 2006 and 2007.   If you are considering entering as a team and would like more information, please contact the Chamber of Commerce Office.

The cost for pre-registration, which includes a finisher’s medal, is $15.  The cost increases to $20 after June 30, until 7:30 AM on race day. Registration forms are available at the Black River Area Chamber of Commerce, Curves, River Country Fitness, Lunda Recreation Center and the Black River Memorial Hospital Registration Desk.
