Filmed in Black River Falls, The Star  features local actors.

The StarThe Black River Area Chamber of Commerce (BRACC) and My Town Pictures announce the world premiere of "The Star", a new locally produced film featuring Lillian McManners, Brian Brawner, Nancy Clemence, and more. It premiered in April 2008 to a sell out crowd.

"The Star" is the story of an elderly woman named Ingrid Olson (McManners) who still cares for her cognitively disabled middle-aged son, Oliver. Ingrid claims to have been a Hollywood film star in her early years and likes to dress up as a variety of humorous characters, but social workers Tuesday and Dennis (Clemence and Brawner) are concerned about the care that her son is getting, leading them to try to find out if Ingrid is simply eccentric...or simply crazy. The cast also included Dick Hagen, Barb Brower, Scott McManners, Ken Artis, Connie Andersen, Joe Williams, and more. Jim Brockhohn from Forest City, Iowa plays Oliver. Brockhohn has been a frequent actor in other My Town Pictures films in Iowa and Minnesota and is a member of the Iowa Motion Picture Association board of directors.
