Summer is the perfect time to roll down the windows and go for a scenic drive!
We suggest Rustic Road #54, one of western Wisconsin’s most beautiful drives. The 12.3-mile route winds through forests and pine tree plantations in the Black River State Forest. For a time, the road follows the Wazee Trail past Pigeon Creek Campground and the lookout tower for Dike 17, where you’ll get a stunning view of the marsh.
Birdwatchers will love this drive as sandhill cranes, bald eagles, ducks and geese are plentiful, along with plenty of other types of wildlife. Look closely and you’ll also see a variety of native plant life, including some gorgeous wildflowers.
Rustic Road #54, also known as North Settlement Rd., runs north from County O to WIS 54. To start your adventure, exit I-94 at the Millston exit.
