ATV Season is Right Around the Corner

April 23, 2013

It’s almost time to gas up the ATV and hit the trails! Jackson County trails reopen on May 15 and Clark County trails open May 1!

Black River Country is known for being ATV friendly, with 335,000 acres of public forest and hundreds of miles of designated trails (more than 100 miles in Jackson County and 135 in neighboring Clark County).  The landscape is both rugged and beautiful, the perfect mix for an exhilarating ride!

You’ll also find some of the best single track motorcycling in the state right here in Black River Country. The Jackson Forest has 28 miles of track for riders and Clark County Forest has another 18 miles of trails.

Motorcycle trails open May 15 and you must purchase an annual Jackson County use sticker to ride legally.

Jackson County Trails

October 5, 2011

Jackson County Forestry and Parks Department announces the annual spring closing of our recreational trail systems. This annual closing is done to prevent excessive damage to the soft ground and to perform routine maintenance to get ready for the summer riding season. All Jackson County ATV, UTV, Motorcycle and Snowmobile trails are now closed. We will re-open on Tuesday, May 15, 2012.

Jackson County is not allowing UTVs to ride from October 16th – May 14th. Clark County is not allowing UTVs to ride from December 15th to March 15th, this summer only.
