The Black River Area Chamber of Commerce is a strong group of local businesses and organizations that believe in “Building business, creating community and promoting tourism.”
Benefits of joining the Chamber:
The executive director and staff attend many economic development and business forums throughout the year to stay in touch with the latest on the business front. We also attend the annual Wisconsin tourism conference. Business referral: The Chamber receives more than 5,000 calls and emails per year plus visits. We supply information about our members and refer inquiries to them. Digital presence: The Chamber is worked with Jackson County to form a new economic development committee. Our website will include more business and economic development information.
Business After 5:
We encourage you to take advantage of Business After 5 each month for an opportunity to network with your peers and learn about our diverse local business community. Chamber members can also host these events. These events are usually the 2nd Wednesday of each month and a complete calendar is posted in our monthly newsletter.
Weekly “News from Black River Area Chamber of Commerce” E-newsletter:
You can submit information about your business, anything new or unusual, to be posted in our weekly e-newsletter or featured in our monthly electronic newsletter. You can also advertise your business in the weekly e-newsletter for only $25. Don’t overlook this simple, inexpensive opportunity to showcase your business or event.
The current Chamber Bucks program is continuing to be very successful. In 2017, we sold approximately $40,000 “Bucks” and these dollars stay right here in Jackson County. We have small posters that state “Chamber Bucks Accepted Here” for you to post at your place of business, either in your window, or at your point-of-sale area. Please let us know if you would like a copy and we will deliver it to you.
Conference Room Availability:
As members, you have the opportunity to utilize the Chamber’s conference room free of charge one time each year. Subsequent use requires a nominal rental fee of $25.00.
Ribbon Cutting Ceremony:
If your business is new to Chamber membership, or if you’ve made substantial changes to your business such as adding on or moving to a new location, the Chamber can provide a ribbon cutting service for you at no charge. We invite the local dignitaries, chamber board members, ambassadors and the media for a free advertising opportunity for you.
Become an Ambassador:
Chamber Ambassadors represent the business community at chamber events and help greet new chamber businesses or members.
Be listed in the member’s directory in our tourism book. Some 15,000 copies are distributed locally from our chamber office, from members and to tourism information booths from around the state. Chamber members also receive a discounted rate on purchasing advertising in the directory.
The Chamber also promotes tourism throughout the region using funds that come from room tax revenue. Tourists spent more than $39.6 million dollars in Jackson County in 2015, resulting in total business sales of $57.9 million. That’s an increase of nearly 10 percent from 2014 and up 22 percent in the past two years.
The chamber has helped formed a Jackson County Economic Development Committee and is involved in a regional business economic development plan. No one works harder to promote and grow our local business community!
