Sparta Area Chamber of Commerce – Welcoming Businesses, Unifying the Community, Creating Possibilities
The Sparta Area Chamber of Commerce has served businesses and the greater Sparta, Wisconsin community for more than eight decades. Organized in 1940, the Chamber works to strengthen local businesses, build community connections, create opportunities, and support the continued economic vitality of the Sparta area. Its mission is: “Welcoming Businesses, Unifying the Community, Creating Possibilities.”
The Chamber serves businesses throughout the Sparta area by providing promotion, advocacy, networking, educational opportunities, business resources, referrals, and community partnerships. Chamber membership provides businesses with opportunities to increase their visibility, connect with other business and community leaders, participate in Chamber programs and events, and have a voice on issues affecting the local business community.
In addition to supporting local businesses, the Sparta Area Chamber of Commerce plays an important role in promoting Sparta as a destination to live, work, visit, and explore. Sparta is known as the Bicycling Capital of America and provides access to the Elroy-Sparta State Trail, outdoor recreation, fishing, kayaking, community parks, local attractions, shopping, dining, and a variety of annual events. The Chamber describes its tourism vision as transforming Sparta into “a destination worth the drive, providing experiences worth staying for.”
The Chamber also coordinates and supports numerous community events and programs designed to bring residents and visitors into the community while providing additional exposure for area businesses. Signature activities include Concerts in the Park, Kriskindlmarkt, networking programs, Business After 5 events, and other seasonal and community events.
Located approximately eight minutes from Fort McCoy, Sparta also benefits from a strong connection to the military installation and the service members, civilian employees, families, contractors, and visitors it brings to the region. The Sparta Area Chamber’s board includes Fort McCoy among its ex-officio partners, along with the City of Sparta, Wisconsin DNR, Sparta Area School District, and Western Technical College.
