Step back in time and experience Jackson County history during the Spring Creek Schoolhouse Museum Open to the Public series. Operated by the Jackson County Historical Society, this beautifully preserved one-room schoolhouse was built in 1885 and served local students until 1963. Today, the museum offers visitors a meaningful look at rural education through original schoolhouse pieces, local artifacts, and exhibits that tell the story of generations of students in the Black River Falls area.
The Spring Creek Schoolhouse Museum is open to the public on the first Sunday of each month from 12:00 PM–3:00 PM, May through September. The 2026 public season includes open dates on May 3, June 7, July 5, August 2, and September 6. Group tours, school field trips, private appointments, and special event opportunities are also available by arrangement.
Whether you are a history enthusiast, educator, student, family, or visitor exploring Black River Country, the Spring Creek Schoolhouse Museum offers an engaging and authentic glimpse into Wisconsin’s one-room schoolhouse past.
