Step into local history at the historic Carnegie Library Museum in downtown Black River Falls!
Located at 321 Main Street, this beautifully preserved building—originally constructed in 1915 as a Carnegie Library—served the community as the Black River Falls Public Library until 1995. Today, it stands proudly on the Wisconsin and National Registers of Historic Places and is home to the Jackson County Historical Society Museum.
Explore two floors of immersive exhibits that bring Jackson County’s past to life. Visitors can experience a recreated Clay Post Office, a fully outfitted early dental office, and a fascinating collection of historical military artifacts. Dive into the region’s rich logging history, or explore cultural displays featuring Native American beadwork, leather items, arrowheads, and ancient stone tools. Don’t miss the compelling Charles Van Schaick photography collection and the Wisconsin Death Trip exhibit area.
