Explore Jackson County’s rich local history during the Carnegie Library Museum 2026 Season in downtown Black River Falls. Operated by the Jackson County Historical Society, the museum is housed in the historic 1915 Carnegie Library building, which served as the Black River Falls Public Library until 1995 and is now preserved as a community museum.
Visitors can browse two floors of exhibits highlighting early life in Jackson County, including logging and lumber history, historical military artifacts, Native American beadwork and leather items, ancient local artifacts, a recreated Clay Post Office, a fully outfitted early dental office, and the Charles Van Schaick / Wisconsin Death Trip exhibit area.
This Friday event series runs May 8 through September 25, 2026, from 10:00 AM–2:00 PM. The museum’s broader seasonal hours also include Saturdays from May through September, with private tours available year-round by appointment. It is an excellent stop for history enthusiasts, students, families, lifelong residents, and visitors looking to better understand the stories that shaped Black River Falls and Jackson County.
