Step into local history during the Carnegie Library Museum 2026 Season in downtown Black River Falls. Operated by the Jackson County Historical Society, this historic museum is housed inside the beautifully preserved 1915 Carnegie Library building, which once served as the Black River Falls Public Library and is now listed on the Wisconsin and National Registers of Historic Places.

Visitors can explore two floors of exhibits that bring Jackson County’s past to life. Featured displays include early settlement history, logging and lumber exhibits, historical military artifacts, Native American history displays, beadwork and leather items, ancient local artifacts, a recreated Clay Post Office, a restored dental office, and the Charles Van Schaick / Wisconsin Death Trip exhibit area.

The Museum Saturday event series runs May 9 through September 26, 2026, from 10:00 AM–2:00 PM. The museum’s broader public season is Fridays and Saturdays from 10:00 AM–2:00 PM, May through September, with private tours and appointments available year-round. This is a meaningful stop for residents, visitors, students, families, and history enthusiasts looking to better understand the people, places, and stories that shaped Jackson County.
